Safety recalls on car seats, prams and cots aren't rare, and checking whether yours is affected means knowing the exact model and, often, a batch or serial number. It also matters for insurance — baby gear adds up to real money, and it's just as claimable as anything else in the house if it's lost, stolen or damaged.
What's worth having on record
- A photo of the car seat, pram and cot, including the model label or sticker
- The serial or batch number, where one exists
- Roughly what you paid, or that it was a gift or hand-me-down
- A note of the purchase or gift date, even a rough one
